Biscotti are classic Italian cookies, also called Cantucci, which originated in the Tuscan city of Prato. And, as with all things Italian, these too, are truly an artistic creation, baked with passion.
The word ‘Biscotti’ means twice-baked, which is actually the key to the crunchy yet firm texture of these cookies! Baking as an art requires precision. Imagine doing it twice!
The amount of effort and patience required in baking these cookies is very well rewarded the moment you take the first bite! Biscotti are traditionally made with eggs, which would have deterred many of us from enjoying these tempting bakes. So we put on our creative hats, and worked our way around to bring to you the eggless version of the same, that tastes just as good!
To make things even better, we do not use processed white sugar in our preparations. Instead, these are sweetened with Desi Khand – a much healthier substitute which is unrefined and does not contain Sulphur. And as with all our bakes, even this one is made of whole wheat flour.
