Be it by stealing some left to sundry on the terrace as a kid or whipping up some recipes passed on by our moms or grandmoms as an adult, we all have many memories revolving our tamarind and mangoes from our summer diaries. And it’s time to make some more with a delicious punch of both!
While we are quite familiar to aam papad, not many have had the chance to taste this fruit leather made of sundried tamarind and mango pulp, blended with some handpicked spices. Well, that’s because this traditional recipe has been a well-kept secret. But then the joy of relishing food comes only by sharing it with the rest.
Thus, I cooked up this Spicy Tangy Imli and Aam Padad at home and the first batch is ready to get delivered. The essence of fresh tangy tamarind and flavourful mango pulp blended with some spices, when sundried to perfection, creates this luscious fruit leather, of which you can’t just get enough.
Mix with some home-cooked sweet chutney or just chew it off, either way, you gain some good nutrition and taste. Tamarind has been of great use in Ayurveda and is known for regulating blood pressure and digestive system, weight loss, boosting immunity and many more. And when this gets combined with the nutrition and richness of mango, it surely becomes a guilt-free delight.
