A lot of us make the mistake of considering ginger ale as just another kind of soda. But that’s because most of us are used to store-bought ginger ale, which merely has any benefit of ginger and is more of sweetened soda with artificial flavour.
Well, the authentic ginger ale squash is much more and full of nutrition. For hundreds of years, ginger ale has served as a favourite drink mix around the world and is known to be one of the oldest natural drink recipes. I cracked the recipe to this natural drink and brewed some at home to deliver you at your doorstep. To make this syrup I used a good amount of fresh ginger (carefully simmered in water for quite some time) with lemon peel to give it a nice kick, along with a cultured ginger mixture to create a naturally fermented and fizzy ginger ale. The natural fermentation provides the drink with the benefits of enzymes and probiotics that help boost health.
This homemade Ginger Ale has no fat or cholesterol and is loaded with calcium, iron, copper, and magnesium. Moreover, it comes with the benefit of fresh ginger, which has been used in several traditional medicines for ages. Ginger helps soothe the digestive system, alleviate nausea, reduce fever, fix respiratory issues, stimulate the circulatory system, help relieve muscle aches, treat high blood pressure, improve cholesterol, reduce cancer risk, and more.
So ditch that can or bottle of unhealthy, sweetened soda today and grab a bottle of this homemade Ginger Ale. Use it as mix up for alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages or pour a tall, refreshing glass of Ginger Ale and sip on to beat the summer heat.
