We are back to the season when the continuous drizzle outside your window would make you crave a little bit more for those deep-fried pakodas, vadas, and arbi ke patte ke patode with a cup of hot tea or coffee. But let’s be honest and agree with the fact that no matter how delicious your snacks platter is, monsoon snacking can only be right with the right condiment.
As my mind kept fluttering with the thought of finding the perfect dip, a vague memory from my childhood days in my grandmom’s house came knocking. Oh! I could almost feel the taste of that sweet and spicy karonda chutney that my grandmom would make right before the monsoon would hit so that we could relish it throughout the season.
And there it was, the fresh aroma of Khatti Meethi Karonda Launji took over my kitchen. Karonde are naturally sour and a bit astringent in taste when mixed with hot green chillies. The combination gives a perfect mix of tart and heat that is a hallmark of any Indian chutney. You can eat this chutney with paratha or as a side dish with your meals and trust it to spice up your meals beautifully. Apart from great taste, this chutney is nutritious too. Well, karonda is a healthy treat in itself with some natural goodness.
Spicy pickles and chutneys have always been an important part of Indian meals. And you can never say no to this age-old recipe of homemade Karonda Mirchi Chutney.
